North Miami, FL – 8/28/20 — St. John’s Health, a community hospital in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, announced its partnership with Carevive, to provide care plans and home-based symptom monitoring for patients being treated for cancer. St. John’s is an affiliate of the NCI-designated cancer research facility and hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute – University of Utah.

After diagnosis, patients local to Jackson Hole often choose to be treated at St. John’s Health, approximately five hours away from Huntsman in Salt Lake City. With Carevive, St. John’s can electronically share patient treatment plans, care plans and patient experience insights on active treatment with Huntsman’s oncologists to improve care coordination.

“Carevive gives our oncology team access to cancer patient care plans based on NCCN (National Comprehensive Cancer Network) guidelines and treatment protocols/regimens followed by St. John’s Health and our partners at Huntsman Cancer Institute.,” said St. John’s Director of Oncology, Rachelle Shea, BSN, RN. “Carevive will help us streamline communication among all providers involved in a patient’s care and enhance our ability to provide the best protocols for chemotherapy, other treatment plans and follow-up.

Carevive integrates into the electronic health record (EHR) giving clinicians near real-time access to vital oncology patient information at the point of care. St. John’s Health is among a growing number of hospitals leveraging an EHR cloud-based platform tailored to meet the unique needs of critical access and community hospitals. St. John’s is the first health system to adopt Carevive’s oncology care and survivorship care planning tools on an EHR cloud-based platform. This collaboration will greatly benefit patients ensuring they have access to the best in class resources and connected care tools even if they don’t live in a major metropolitan area.

“We’re delighted to support St. John’s Health in offering home-based symptom monitoring and care planning to their cancer patients,” said Carevive Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Madelyn Trupkin Herzfeld. “I’m excited that our technology interfaces seamlessly with emerging cloud-based EHR delivery model, allowing community and critical access hospitals the opportunity to provide state-of-the-art cancer services comparable to those typically offered only at big academic medical centers.”
