Carevive releases a Spanish version of their remote symptom monitoring workflow for patients.

March 29, 2023 – Boston, MA – Carevive Systems (“Carevive”) the leading oncology-focused health technology company is centered on understanding and improving the experience of patients with cancer using their unique Patient-Reported Outcomes Mobile Platform (PROmpt). Carevive PROmpt® enables cancer patients to report new symptoms and receive valuable information about their treatment while at the same time providing clinicians a way to monitor their patients’ health and address impediments to treatment success remotely.

Today, Carevive announced that it will be launching a Spanish version of their native app, along with Spanish language support for the remote symptom monitoring (RSM) workflow.

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, Spanish is the second most common language in America, with almost 19% of Americans (over 62 million people) being Hispanic or Latino. With only 5% of U.S. nurses identifying as Hispanic or Latino, it is quite common for Spanish speaking patients to encounter language barriers in health care (U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration). Carevive’s ability to offer PROmpt and RSM in Spanish can improve health equity by removing language as a barrier in the collection of critical patient data and communication between cancer patients and their care teams.

Studies have found that language barriers in healthcare often lead to miscommunications between the medical professionals and patients, reducing both parties’ satisfaction and increasingly impacting the quality of care in a negative way (Shamsi et al 2020, Squires 2018). With the release of a Spanish version of RSM, coupled with a Spanish version of the PROmpt App, Carevive immediately improves communication channels with translated, standardized measure questions for patients and visual trends of symptom report history for care teams, to bridge language disparities.

“Building a communication bridge between patients and their care teams is a major part of what Carevive does,” says Carevive CEO Bruno Lempernesse. “Ensuring this same benefit is available to all cancer patients, regardless of language, is fundamental to bringing the patient voice to the forefront of cancer care in a standardized and equitable way.”
