Sheila Garland, PhDDr. Garland completed her graduate training in Clinical Psychology at the University of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada and was awarded a 3-year Bisby Fellowship, a prize given to the top-ranked application by the Canadian Institute for Health Research. She is receiving advanced training in Behavioral Sleep Medicine in order to effectively evaluate mind-body interventions for sleep disturbances in cancer and other chronic illnesses.

Her research priorities include: 1) evaluating the impact of individual characteristics on preference for insomnia treatment and how this influences adherence and outcomes; 2) understanding the mechanisms by which mind-body interventions for sleep effect psychological well-being and in what ways this may intersect with and influence biological processes and outcomes; and 3) the application of novel data collection and analysis methodologies in integrative medicine research.
