Maura McMullan, BSN, RN, has been in the oncology field for 12 years. After graduating from Villanova University, she began her career at The Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania where she worked on an inpatient medical oncology floor. She transferred to the outpatient oncology unit at The Rena Rowan Breast Center where she worked as a chemotherapy nurse helping to treat breast cancer patients from diagnosis through survivorship. After working as a PICC nurse inserting PICC lines and midlines at the bedside, Maura relocated to the Washington, D.C. area. She coordinated care for leukemia and lymphoma patients as a clinical nurse coordinator at The Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown Hospital. From there she served as program specialist for the QOPI certification program at ASCO. In that role she worked on the development and adherence to the ASCO/ONS chemotherapy safety standards, ensuring that outpatient practices were prepared to achieve higher quality patient care.
