- I rode across the country on the Health Security Express bus for a college internship.
- I lived and worked in The Netherlands after college (but not LinkedIn worthy!).
- I’m a vegetarian and a yogi wanna be.
- My 9 year-old daughter is more awesome than her 6 year-old twin brothers (she made me write that one).
Experience
Madelyn Trupkin Herzfeld was Founder, President, and General Manager of the Institute for Medical Education & Research, Inc. (IMER), where she led the development of accredited oncology continuing education/continuing medical education programs for nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals specializing in oncology for 12 years. IMER was sold in 2007 to United Biosource Corporation, which was acquired by Medco Health Solutions (2010) and later Express Scripts Corporation (2011). Ms. Herzfeld earned dual degrees in business (concentration: Health Care Public Policy and Management) and nursing from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and School of Nursing, respectively. She began her career at Bear, Stearns & Co. as a financial analyst in its investment banking healthcare services/pharmaceutical group and subsequently served as an associate for Pinnacle Partners, a boutique investment bank focused on middle-market healthcare service companies.
Why I Joined Carevive
My mom had breast cancer, as did my aunt and grandmother on my paternal side. I’ve always gravitated to supporting and navigating patients with cancer. I believe there are significant gaps in managing the quality of life of patients with cancer, and it’s my mission to help fill them by building clinically feasible tools for care teams to better engage patients. Patient care plans help patients make educated choices about treatment based on goals of care and health status, and offer important personalized self-care strategies while on and off treatment. Through my career I have been connected with brilliant researchers in supportive oncology and its my mission to my make their work translational through Carevive. Because after all, life’s all about connecting the dots.
Once we tackle cancer, we’ll address cancer prevention and other chronic conditions. But for now, we’re pretty busy. 😉
